A glass half full
Consumer packaged goods company wants to sort flawed jars
Our client is a well-known consumer packaged goods company. Upon realizing a flaw in production, they turned to us to create a customized inspection that would minimize production downtime.
The challenge
A production flaw affecting 2.1 million glass jars left our client with a problem they needed help with. Each jar had to be inspected, sorted, and the damaged jars recycled. This needed to be performed in a safe area that adhered to compliance standards.

The outcome
-
We created a safe area to contain glass that adhered to glass and brittle plastic food safety policies
-
We designed a customized inspection process within the containment area
-
We sorted 2.1 M jars by a compliant/non-compliant set of standards
-
We bulk packaged compliant jars as originally received and returned them to our storage area
-
We bulk packaged non-compliant jars and delivered 370,000 pounds of glass to a recycling center
The
solution
We successfully kept pace with our client’s production and minimized downtime at their packaging facility. Approximately 66% of the jars were salvaged and returned to our client while the remainder were recycled.
